Preity Zinta, the owner of Punjab Kings (PBKS), has vehemently refuted recent circulating reports suggesting that she had made comments regarding the possibility of Rohit Sharma captaining her IPL team. Preity Zinta dismissed the rumors on April 19, alleging that Zinta had expressed willingness to stake her confidence in acquiring Rohit as captain for PBKS in the forthcoming mega auction next year. Rohit had notably relinquished the captaincy of Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2024 season.
In a swift response via her official X account on Twitter, Zinta dismissed these claims as “fake and baseless.” She clarified that while she holds Rohit Sharma in high esteem and is a dedicated admirer, she had not engaged in any discussions about him in interviews nor made any such statements. Zinta also extended her respect towards the current PBKS skipper, Shikhar Dhawan, who is currently sidelined due to injury.
Expressing her disappointment with the dissemination of false information, Zinta urged the media to exercise caution and refrain from circulating such reports, which she deemed embarrassing for all parties involved. She emphasized the focus of the team on achieving success on the field, highlighting the importance of unity and dedication in the pursuit of victory.
Zinta concluded her statement by emphasizing the need for responsible journalism and reiterated her commitment to PBKS’s goals for the IPL 2024 season. She urged everyone to disregard the misinformation and concentrate on supporting the team’s endeavors.
